What is the difference between the V6 Impact Coffee Tamper and other constant-force tampers?
V6 Impact Coffee Tamper: These utilize a bias structure spring inside, after pressing down, the bias structure is corrected, the corrected spring is released, and after releasing, it provides a strong impact force, which can tamp the coffee powder into a coffee puck.
Constant Pressure Tampers (e.g., IKAPE V3): These use a smooth, linear spring compression. As you press down, the resistance builds gradually and smoothly until the spring is fully compressed to its calibrated 30 lbs force. It provides a seamless, quiet, and predictable pressing feel without any aggressive clicking or sudden dropping.
Why don’t I hear the “click” impact sound when tamping? It just bottoms out immediately.
Possible cause 1: Insufficient dose or too-coarse grind size If you’re using an 18g basket but only dosing 14g of coffee, or if your grind is too coarse, the overall puck height will be too low. When the tamper’s base ring seats on the basket rim, the tamper’s base either doesn’t reach the puck at all, or barely touches it—meaning there’s not enough counterforce to trigger the internal impact mechanism. The tamper will simply stop at the base ring.Solution: Increase your dose accordingly, use WDT to loosen and evenly distribute the grounds, then tamp straight down firmly and decisively with the palm of your hand.
Possible cause 2: Missing parts after disassembly and cleaning If you disassembled the tamper for cleaning and did not reinstall all components correctly, the impact mechanism may not function. Please contact customer support for the assembly guide and reinstall the tamper properly.
It has an energy-storing mechanical structure inside—can I rinse it directly with water? What should I do if fine coffee grounds get inside?
Rust Prevention & Mechanism Seizure Risk Although the exterior is made of premium stainless steel and aluminum alloy, the internal precision impact mechanism, clips, and energy-storing spring are not waterproof. If water enters and cannot fully dry, it can degrade the lubricant or cause micro-rust. This may seize the impact mechanism, turning it into a simple "dead tamper."
Daily Cleaning After each use, simply wipe the base threads clean with the included brush or a clean cloth.
If Fine Coffee Grounds Get Inside (How to Disassemble) If ultra-fine coffee grounds enter the mechanical gaps, perform a partial disassembly by unscrewing the handle (outer shell) counterclockwise. After removing the spring, use an air blower or brush to blow out the residual coffee grounds from the interior.

Great Mini Tamper but...
Really liking the V6 so far!
UPDATE: IKAPE responded via chat that the V6 no longer includes the cup BUT they will send me one! I'll update when I receive it to 5 ⭐.
Wish it would've come with cup / holder / stand as shown in the pic from another reviewer.
IKAPE says stand is no longer included.
